The family business HMG Paints was the focus of a Spotlight by Made in Britain, the official collective mark for the British manufacturing industry.
The Manchester-based paint manufacturer HMG Paints has been featured in the latest Spotlight by Made in Britain, an association that aims to develop the British manufacturing community and highlight successful family-owned businesses.
“We were delighted to visit HMG Paints for this video, as the company embodies several of our organisation's core values - British provenance, innovation and longevity. HMG is one of many family businesses within the Made in Britain community, and we play a vital role in bringing more public awareness to the stories of how these companies evolve as they pass from generation to generation,” stated John Pearce, the CEO of Made in Britain.
In the third annual report into “Buying British”, conducted by Made in Britain and OnePoll, 90% of respondents believed that it is important to buy British products. Additionally, almost half of them believe that their purchasing habits will change in the near future because of the global COVID-19 pandemic, as they will be more driven into buying products made in the United Kingdom.

Many have struggled to acquire paints and coatings which were previously imported from abroad due to supply chain disruptions. Although HMG Paints is renowned for its coatings specifically developed for the automotive and commercial vehicles industry, the company is also focusing on a new eco-sustainable range of water-based decorative coatings with low VOC emissions.
The company's efforts to develop environmentally-friendly solutions and strengthen its ties with the British communities already granted HMG Paints awards from the British Chamber of Commerce, the British Coatings Federation and Family Business United.
