AkzoNobel’s Interpon team and PowderTek are driving growth and innovation in the architectural coatings industry by combining high-quality finishes with industry-leading warranties, enhancing aesthetics while ensuring long-term protection.
The international paints and coatings manufacturer AkzoNobel, through its Interpon powder coatings division, has recently signed a partnership with the North Indian powder coater PowderTek to empower architects with a diverse palette of colours and styles as well as enhance their designs while offering warranties that ensure lasting protection.
PowderTek has chosen to work exclusively with Interpon to coat the aluminum facades, windows, doors and other architectural elements that adorn numerous Bollywood star homes and luxury residences throughout the region. In addition to Interpon D Futura, Anodic and Stone Effect powder coatings, PowderTek has become the first business in the region to implement 100% Interpon D STF powder and basecoat, achieving a natural wood-like finish on various surfaces.
“We are expert coaters. The Interpon team are experts in powder. If we are using a new shade, then the Technical Services team will help us stabilise the use of that shade on the line. If the temperature isn’t consistent in the oven, then the variation in shade becomes more prominent. They give us the guidance and we follow the steps,” has stated Kshitij Anand, CEO of PowderTek.
By partnering with AkzoNobel and leveraging its Technical Services team, PowderTek has gained a substantial competitive edge through customised color solutions and operational efficiencies. As a result, the company has expanded threefold and anticipates doubling its size within the next 12 months.
PowderTek is also a strong advocate of Interpon’s bonded metallic powder coatings. Through AkzoNobel’s specialised bonding techniques, the Interpon team enhances the finish of premium metallic powder coatings, ensuring a uniform metallic appearance with superior color consistency and durability. Two of the most in-demand colours currently are Steel Bronze and Golden Beach.
Sustainability remains a core focus. The latest generation of metallic effects reduces reliance on liquid coatings while delivering the striking aesthetics of real metals. Powder coatings are entirely free of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), and any overspray can be captured and reused, further minimising environmental impact.
