Micro Powders has developed a wide range of PTFE-free replacement products based on nanocomposite technology.

Micro Powders has recently announced its decision to cease the production and commercialisation of paints and coatings containing polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), usually employed for the production of non-stick coatings, in order to align with the global health and safety regulations.

Over the past several years, the company has however developed a wide range of PTFE-free replacements based on nanocomposite technology. The alternative additives perform as well or even better than their counterparts. Many customers across several sectors – including can, container and architectural coatings, as well as graphic arts – have already transitioned to these more sustainable and safer solutions.

“We developed our advanced nanocomposite technology in 2019 and now we can offer the largest portfolio of industry-leading PTFE replacement additives, that allow our customers to remove PFAs based materials from their formulas. We understand how important it is for formulators to quickly pivot to the right additives that address developing regulatory challenges without sacrificing the performance of their coatings,” has stated Gary Strauss, the president of Micro Powders.
