The achievement will allow AkzoNobel to reduce its carbon emissions across the entire value chain by 50% by 2030.

has recently announced that all its production sites, warehouses and research and development facilities in North America are now fully operating on renewable electricity, helping the company to reduce its carbon emissions across the entire value chain by 50% by 2030.
“We’ve aligned our own sustainability ambitions with the Paris agreement, which aims to limit global warming and ensure that global temperature rise doesn’t exceed 1.5˚ C above pre-industrial levels, As the first paints and coatings company to also set science-based sustainability targets, we’re determined to fulfil our ambitions and this achievement in North America is another big step in the right direction,” has proudly declared Wijnand Bruinsma, the director of sustainability for AkzoNobel.
The renewable energy employed by the North American buildings of AkzoNobel is generated through solar panels or acquired from other sources of green electricity with certificates of origin.
“As well as moving to renewable electricity and reducing our overall energy consumption, we are also working across our value chain. We are engaging with our suppliers and continue to develop sustainable solutions that help our customers reduce their own carbon footprint,” has concluded Bruinsma.
