PPG helped a technical school in Turkey with products used to refurbish a boat used by shipbuilding maritime students.

The international paints and coatings manufacturer PPG has recently announced the completion of a student training and skill-building initiative held at the Şehit Volkan Tantürk technical high-school in Kocaeli (Turkey), for which the company donated over 150 litres of marine coatings employed for the refurbishment of a service boat that will be used for the education of more than 200 ship-building students.

The refurbished boat has been presented on Monday 19th May 2024 during the ceremony for the national Commemoration of Ataturk, Youth and Sports Day, attended by students, teaching staff, local government representatives and also PPG employees. The donation is part of a global commitment of the company to support education and workforce development initiatives.

“This donation is an important contribution to technical education and training for students in our community. It is often a challenge for schools to provide a real-life environment for students to learn and practice. With this boat, shipbuilding students will learn practical skills in maintenance and painting, while maritime students will gain hands-on experience using the engine room and wheelhouse,” has stated Gizem Gürson Impram, the HR country coordinator of PPG.
