The sleek and sustainable system developed by AERO provided a Jaguar F-Pace with a unique contrast roof.

In order to provide a customised coating to one of its customers, Germain Jaguar Land Rover (Ohio, U.S.A.) employed AERO’s unique film-based system to further distinguish the appearance of a Jaguar F-Pace with a contrast roof.

Contrast roofs are not usually offered by the American factory, because of the manufacturing constraints of traditional paint lines. AERO’s film coatings, however, allowed the company to install a sleek and efficient contrast roof that could be stretched and easily applied at room temperature. In addition, AERO technology does not produce CO2, does not include VOCs, PVC and solvents and also does not require water during application and manufacture. Recently, AERO’s film-based coatings have also been used on the Illini Solar Car.

“AERO made it possible for us to provide additional value to our customer, which is good for our dealership and for Jaguar. Our customer selected a gloss black roof, which provided a unique contrast against the factory white finish of their Jaguar. The ability to customize without compromising on quality or sustainability is the pinnacle of luxury, which for us – a luxury automotive dealer – is a massive competitive differentiator,” commented Austin Germain, the General Manager of Germain Jaguar Land Rover.

“Painting a car, masking, bagging, painting again for contrast roof, then de-masking, de-bagging, and then clear coating is a zero-profit game for luxury brands who use traditional paint. With AERO, that capability is drastically reduced, without any environmental impact. The ease of application of AERO means that luxury OEMs can even push this capability to the dealer and increase their posture as aspirational brands,” stated Jim McGuire, the CEO of AERO Sustainable Material Technology.
