HMG Paints supports the Minutes Matter Campaign, donating paints to convert the iconic British red telephone boxes into lifesaving defibrillator stations.

UK paint manufacturer HMG Paints, alongside with the British Coatings Federation and its members, are supporting the Minutes Matter campaign by donating their painting products. These are used to preserve the iconic red telephone boxes and convert them into lifesaving defibrillator stations.

HMG Paints will provide 2.5 litres of undercoat and 2.5 litres of the iconic 539 Currant Red gloss from the BS381C range.

“The whole world witnessed the importance of defibrillators during the Euro 2020 championship and we are proud to support the British Coatings Federation in partnership with the Community Heartbeat Trust and BT to promote the installation of defibrillators in BT phone boxes across the UK” commented John Falder, HMG Paints Chairman. “We were honoured to have provided paint for the first conversion in Long Wittenham and are elated that since then 668 further kiosks have been converted.”

About Minutes Matter Campaign

The initiative stems from Community Heartbeat Trust and BT which have collaborated with rural communities to transform disused telephone boxes into Community Public Access Defibrillator sites or cPADs with the aim to preserve a part of our British heritage and culture, but above all to try to help save the lives of the 30,000 people who suffer cardiac arrest every year.

After cardiac arrest, medical treatment should begin as soon as possible as the chance of survival decreases by 23% per minute. The UK Resuscitation Council suggests a defibrillator should be available wherever medical treatment is more than 5 minutes away. So, converting the UK's thousands of inactive telephone boxes to install a defibrillator could help save lives.
