Extrugasa leverages the entire Interpon powder coatings range from AkzoNobel for its extruded aluminium profiles.
The international paints and coatings manufacturer AkzoNobel
has recently celebrated a successful 40-year partnership with Extrugasa, a Spanish extruder of aluminium products that leverages the complete range of Interpon powder coatings to offer manufacturers and designers a very wide choice of colours and durability for architectural and industrial applications.
In its manufacturing facility in Galicia, that includes two vertical and two horizontal lines, Extrugasa serves a global customer portfolio with products including windows, doors, facades and railings, as well as specific products within the industrial, automotive and transport sectors.
Among the many Interpon powder coatings it uses, the company mostly employs the Futura Collection, which ensures it achieves not only the colours and finishes needed, but also exceptional super-durability and the highest levels of gloss retention and colour stability. Besides being provided with the backing of a 25-year warranty, the Futura range also possesses the Qualicoat Class 2, GSB Master and AAMA 2604 certifications – which are increasingly specified by architects to support LEED and BREEAM certified green building projects.
“Our customers demand the highest quality. With Interpon, they can choose from the huge range of colours that already exists and are ready to be shipped to us, or we can create colours that are unique to their specific project. Moreover, working with Interpon gives us access not only to products but also to the technical expertise of AkzoNobel”, has stated Raquel Garcia Quinta, the marketing manager of Extrugasa.
Extrugasa then values very much the support that AkzoNobel provides as well as the critical role of its technical staff in building long-term customer relationships. As a matter of fact, the competition is very strong in the region, so the quality and reliability of the Interpon powder coatings are extremely important.
“Customers come to us for the quality of our products and stay with us for the quality of our people and the support of our partners. While certain colours such as Interpon Noir 2100 are always popular, creating bespoke colours is much in demand. AkzoNobel is not just a supplier: we feel like they are actually a part of Extrugasa, always on hand to support us with insight and advice and in working with us to develop the unique powder coatings that our customers want,” has added Manuel Miguéns, the production manager of Extrugasa.
Furthermore, the company is constantly investing in new equipment and processes to drive further efficiencies: it has an established multi-tiered environmental strategy to reduce energy and water consumption, as well as increasing the amount of scrap aluminium it can recycle and reuse. Moreover, Extrugasa is also exploring the latest sustainable innovations from AkzoNobel, including the powder coatings curing at lower temperatures.
“The clients of Extrugasa include some of the most renowned architects in the world, as well as designers, aluminium carpenters and industrial companies from different sectors. After four decades of support, the company is not resting on its reputation. We recognise the value that our close collaboration and working partnership delivers in keeping Extrugasa at the forefront of the aluminium industry,” has commented Sanal Limoncuoğlu, the commercial director of the Powder Coatings division of AkzoNobel in South-East Europe, Middle East and Africa.
