The new BENEBiOL™ contributes to the sustainable formulations of paints and coatings while maintaining high-quality functions.
The Japanese specialty chemicals manufacturer Mitsubishi Chemical Group has recently announced the launch of an upgraded version of its BENEBiOL™, a biomass-based polycarbonatediol that can be used as primary raw material for polyurethane resins, in order to support the sustainable formulations of paints and coatings while maintaining their high-quality functions at the same time.
The bio-based content of existing grades of BENEBiOL was mainly 20-50%, but the new HSS and NLDS solutions have achieved a biobased content of over 80%. In addition, some of the previous petroleum-derived products have been converted to biomass, enabling the company to offer bio-grades for all products from the BENEBiOL range.
Moreover, the new sustainable biomass-based polycarbonatediol provides superior flexibility and a distinctive tactile feel, as well as chemical and stain resistance. It is then suitable for several applications, such as paints, coatings and inks for automotive components, furniture, outdoor goods and synthetic and artificial leather.
The Mitsubishi Chemical Group will showcase the new BENEBiOL range at the 4th Sustainable Material Expo, that will take place from 29th to 31st October 2024 at the Makuhari Messe in Tokyo (Japan).
