PPG announced the debut of PPG ENVIRO-PRIME® 8000 – a next-generation electrocoat (e-coat) primer – to automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) serving the Chinese market.
The new cathodic dip primer expands the capabilities of PPG's technology-leading e-coat portfolio to meet the unique demands of China's domestic OEMs. Building on the success of PPG Enviro-Prime 7000, which was the first hyper-throw electrocoat globally, this new product will provide additional value by delivering improved appearance characteristics and superior workability for easier management on the production line. PPG Enviro-Prime 8000 also offers best-in-class corrosion resistance and throwpower for the hyper-throw e-coat segment.
Supply of the product across China's domestic OEM locations is expected by the end of the year.
"PPG is uniquely capable of addressing the changing needs of automotive OEM customers in every region around the world," said David Cui, PPG director, product management, automotive coatings, Asia Pacific. "PPG Enviro-Prime 8000 is a world-class solution for the domestic market in China that balances the need to provide exceptional appearance, corrosion resistance and other key performance characteristics."
